Our Adventure Starts
We are finishing up our final preparations to leave now. Over the past few weeks we’ve visited our favorite restaurants in the DC area, watched the NE Huskers win their opener against Florida Atlantic 49-3, chilaxed at the hotel, eaten delicious Flavor Ices and purchased more to restock the fridge, packed four bags of exactly 50 pounds, ate Thanksgiving dinner as our actual Thanksgiving will be spent in lovely Paris, sang karaoke (Yellow Submarine, video soon), said goodbye to family and friends (you will all be missed, but we fortunately have Skype!), danced to Grease music, and played video games (yes, even Sheila played reluctantly). We also bought new shoes for Henry since holes were taking over his older ones and configured Nike+ for Sheila’s new marathon running shoes.
Now that everything is ready to go, we are getting excited to arrive in England tomorrow, Sept. 11, or as the Brits would say, 11 September 2009. The first week or two will be spent learning how to drive on the wrong side of the road, learning everything British, getting bank accounts and mobiles set up, and moving Sheila into graduate housing. Hopefully, our flight will leave and arrive on-time and safely.
We should be somewhere over the Atlantic right now. We’ll post more once we arrive in our new home (and finally some pictures will be put up).
